Will an adult male + female fight? I have plenty of caves + hiding places in tank but there has been a lot of aggressive fights over the last couple of days between about 5 zebs which I thought some maybe were females, the alpha male was not involved

males will fight each other to be the alpha etc. this can sometimes be to the death.

females will fight each other for the right to spawn with the alpha.

males will beat up females during spawning.

females can beat up smaller males who do not know their place.
