I don't know who says that it takes 18 - 24 months, he/she must have been thinking about BN plecos. I think your intuition is correct. There is no way they will breeding in 24 months. I think the earliest you might be looking at would be at least 3 years. I've heard rumours from Asia that if hormone...

Ooooo, wow, now that is a very old zebra. I don't think my old zebra is anywhere near that old. Oh-oh! I guess that would mean he's gay too! LOL Hmm, thanks for sharing. I'll see if I can get a picture of him this Friday and I have to clear some of the baby zebras out for sale. This also give me a b...

I've seem close to around 50 WC grown zebra pleco wihin that last 5 years. Let me see if I can remember them all: After Ban: - 25 fro...

OK I think I am beating this topic to death. But I've been meaning to post these pictures to show that angles can be very misleading, but didn't have to time to find the pictures. Just today, I remember that I put them out on my local fish site. Anyway, these 3 pictures are of the same fish I purcha...

Wow, I wasn't expecting that kind of detailed answer. Thanks. Hmm ... looks like it's a completely different setup from mine. I was hopping to spot something by looking at the macro surrounding for clues, but there is absolutly nothing similar between your sorrounding compare to mine. I've breed som...

I think that answer would be "It depends." In terms of breeding zebras as compare to breeding other plecos I'd give it a 6-7 as well. But compare to Discus in your scale, I'd give it a 7-8 for the zebra. Basically because for the Discus, you can readily find them everywhere but the zebras ...

If you are looking for almond leaves, it might be hard to find in Vancouver. You need to go to a specialty fish store to find them. Any store that specialize on Discus might carry some. But be prepare for the price though, "if I want to grow money on trees, I will most likely grow almond trees ...

This is nice to know. If you haven't done so, start taking notes and keep track of which female spawn what, number of eggs, and mark those dates on the calendar. You might want to take your water parameter reading as well. Hmm, lets see what else would help. Tank dimention, current if any, position ...

!.... erh ... I dont' want to to get tangle in the personal "attack" issue. But can we say that the zebra pleco in the picture are not sub-nose or deform and leave it at that? andrewcoxon, I don't think it was an attack on you personally. I think tnat any one of the other pleco breeders wh...

Well, 3" put it around 2 or 2.5 years old. That means these zebras should be born around 2005/2006 period. It's possible if some one already owns some and manage to breed them just after the ban and have been force feeding them for the last 2 years or so. However, if they where around 1" -...

Hi, you might want to add melafix to the tank to help him heal faster. Melafix also helps prevent the wounds from getting infected. It's a natural remedy so there are no side effects to it. I've used this on my zebras on many occasions. Wow, that must have been a good 10 years to have a cutie like t...

While I have seem quite a few people with discus and zebra pleco combo. It's in my opinion that it's a poor choice to mix the two together even if their choice of food is the same. One is noturnal and the other is a day time feeder. How do you even sort this out? Especially when you have the zebra c...

Bad idea, don't leave a fish line in the tank. It's actuall very easy for a pleco to get tanggle in the line. I've lost a female that wayt from a 2 year old forgotten nylon string that broke free from my driftwood. It was a grim death.

Oh, if that's the case, then it's an easy fix. I think you took them out too early. As I have stated on my first post. That was one of my early mistakes. This is how I do mine, if I choose to grow them out in a breeding trap. Day 1 - eggs are laid, or parents sharing caves Day 6/7 - you took your eg...
