Robles! don't sell, convince your wife...she should be understanding. You can put your Z tank anywhere else in the house...doesn't have to be a dedicated room. I did the same mistake 2 years ago and regret it so bad. After 2 years, I bought Zebras again....but I always remember the size they would b...

I would caution anybody considering an auction from Germany to the US, Canada or UK. About 3 years ago me & several others were had by somebody in Germany. The deal looked too good to be true. I lost $1,350 for a breeding colony that was never sent. The guy stalled us, even outdid Paypal by remo...

I also keep guppies with Zebras. That's the only fish I allow in my zebra tanks. The only problem I have is the strong current. Make sure there is an area with rocks/slates that they can swim more peacefully. The females breed constantly & the Zebras don't mind. They make the tank look more live...

two reasons:

1/ if a fry gets sucked in the filter...it is a big loss
2/ you are adding a place for bacteria to establish itself, thus add more filtration qualities to the tank

ApacheDan...how do you do a fishless cycle in a weeks time? 1/ start a new tank with dechlorinated water 2/ get clear 100% ammonia at any supermarket 3/ add ammonia until you get a reading of 2ppm, should be about 5 drops per 10 gals, depending on your ammonia, which is already diluted 4/ raise you...

Very nice indeed....looks like you've done your homework :D Just a couple of comments...this setup is good for mature/breeding zebras. In my own experience smaller fry/juvies have no use for the caves & prefer a lot of slate stone formations to hide. If you do get adults or near adults, watch th...

daily water changes

I got my 18 zebras from 4 sources the first two weeks of January. Some where really small, barely 3/4" and some 1.25-1.5". I have them all in a 20 gal long tank. Since I was afraid there would not be enough food for the smaller ones, due to the pecking order; I started overfeeding at night...

I keep mine with two pairs of fancy guppies...well it used to be 2 pairs. The little rascals reproduce like snails! I wish my Zebras would do the same. :D

Sam, you cannot make a Zebra breed faster or put out more fryes...besides people in for a fast buck won't have the patient it takes to breed Zebras. What I've seen & it is people falsely advertising "Zebra Plecos" for sale in Aquabid....as we speak the label is being used for L316 and ...

Thank you guys for the input. Love the idea of sponge on the intake....why didn't I think about that?

By the way, I do 15% daily water changes on each tank. As a discus-man, I'm used to it....can't hurt the zebras either.

It should not be. My preference for hot mag loading is their micron cart. I like the micron for polishing, but I'm going to leave these canisters permanently. It might be easier to clean the canister loaded with media without killing the bacteria....humm I might have to buy a 4th Hot Magnum just fo...

too much power?

I got three 20 gal long tank (30"x12"x12") & will be using a H.O.T. Magnum canister hanging filters for filtering & aeriation. Instead of carbon, I will use bio-media in the canister. In addition, I will add a corner sponge filter to each tank. It will be set at one end of the...
