Re: Aeration/oxygenation

Sorry for bringing up an old thread.

I was wondering what people thought about wet/dry filters?

I fine that's these tigers oxygenate the water very well and I don't have unsightly bubbles in the water.

Smallest size to sex plecos?

I was just wondering when the sexual characteristics start to show on a pleco, in general. I know that body shape can be a factor. Head shape can be a factor. Odontodes can be a factor. Crescent shaped pectoral fin can be a factor. I have notice that it's very hard to tell a female and a subdominant...

sexing zebra using size as indication?

I have read a number of threads on sexing zebras and know the different factors. It appears that sexing zebras are a bit hard to do even for the most experience keepers. One factor I have not seen discussed a lot is relative size of a zebra when kept in a group. I have seen this work on other fish; ...

Adding smaller plecos to a group?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice. I currently have 5 zebra plecos. They are all ranging from 2.5"-3" in size. I plan on getting another 5 zebras within a week or two. I went to go look at the seller's group today. Most appear to be 2"-2.25". What should I do, if anything, wh...

Re: Aisan breeding program

I agree re: breeding programs. I think they been at it for a while and still can't bring the prices down. There also comes a price point that they are not willing to go under b/c it will undercut their profits. Additionally, it appears that the dam construction is happening as we speak. This factor ...

Ok, thanks for the tips.

I'll try to post some FTS when I get my caves ready and rescape with some new rocks.

Re: Perfect cave sizes?

Thanks for the advice. This is exactly the information I need. I'll make them 1"x1" then.

I'm thinking 10 caves for 10 plecos, plus a bunch of rock work.

In your experience, should I have more caves?

Perfect cave sizes?

Hey guys, I recently got a group of 5 zebra plecos. They are all 2-2.5''. I currently have them in a 75g and expect to get another 5 zebras within the week which are also the same size. I expect to keep this group together for a long time. I'm about to order and make some caves for them. I'm going t...

Is flow really needed?

Hey guys, I been looking at a few tank set ups and noticed that some people have a lot of flow while others don't have as much. My current zebra tank is a 75g with an eheim 2217 and a wet/dry powered by a mag 7. I ask have a modded tunze nano but I'm not using it. With the power head on, my cherry s...
