Hi

By "driven away" I mean, as the fish drops in monetary value, as demand starts to be satisfied individuals who are hoping to make a lot of money will lose interest.

Take care

Hi

IMO do what you feel at ease with. These fish are appearing on wholesalers lists from Germany. They are being bred in Germany, Thailand, Malaya and Taiwan on a commercial basis. The latter three countries I have no doubt are exporting to Japan for obvious reasons.( What they will pay ) While it woul...

Hi

I wouldn't feed at all for risk of pollution, losing the fry is one thing, the adults another.

In saying the above if you have experience with an auto feeder and it hasn't polluted the tank in the past, why should it this time?

Take care

Hi again

Just an afterthought, the question I asked above seems to exclude people without L46's, so for those, why do you want to keep L46's?

Take care

Cash Cow

In any business or money making hobby noone sells "cash cows". Get a few youngsters, mingle with those that have them, things will come your way... I lifted the above post from Private sales and wants. Obviously the reasons for keeping this fish are wide and varied. Mine is because I like ...

Hi

With reference to the post re breeding offspring back to parents. This is a method to emphasize particular traits and fix them. It is a method commonly used in Guppy, Swordtail, Discus breeding, plus many other fish and animals. The traits that tend to be fixed in fish are colour and longfins. While...

Hi again

Articles would be fantastic. The problem being nobody knows the answers. If you use the search facility, Bulldog you will find a thread 135 posts long, with contributions from many breeders, and covered many points with no conclusion. This thread was made sticky by McEve. This deformity as far as I ...

Hi again

Practical it is not, possible it is. Inbreeding has been debated many times before, and at which time it becomes a problem also. Eventually it will happen, so any action taken now will defer such a day. I have been informed that to maintain a genetically viable population 50 breeding unrelated fish ...

Hi again

I have voted, and it's first generation. And thank you Tirzo13 for the detailed explanation. I also prefer the genetic definition, not because I'm a genetecist. It would be nice in say 3 years time to run the same poll again to compare. As it stands at the moment, I think most people who post on thi...

Hi

Just a small point on the poll, my understanding is that F1, F2 F3 is not necessarily generation.

Breed two unrelated F1's, you get F1 offspring, cross an unrelated F1 with an F3 you get an F2.

The increase in the number only applies when you breed related fish.

Hi

IMO, avoid adults unless proven.

Some of these fish are are now 12 to 13 years old, been in the hobby in UK since 1995. Maybe earlier.

Better to wait 2 years for a female juvenile to mature.

Males seem to take longer.

Hi

I think one of those Zebs is a snub nose. Well I am pretty certain.

One of the pics is either L316 or L318.

Hi

No insults or nastiness intended, just facts. Unfortunately facts can at times not be that pleasant. Having met a few members off this site, and also had dealings and conversations with many others I do believe that the overall intentions are good. Also what I commented upon previously, they paid th...

Hi

Well it wasn't meant as a blanket comment. And as I appreciate the majority tends to be somewhat silent. Take it from me there are some well travelled Zebras here in the UK, whose price just keeps on escalating. I am also aware of people who have asked for Zebras on this site, and got them for what ...

Hi

Any reply yet? Just one more point. Can we discuss things in Private Sales and Wants or not? The rules say no, I think yes, so as to avoid people being scammed. On PlecoFanatics recently, a comment of "flash the cash and you will get one on ZebraPlec" As there are people who are members of...
