Re: Abandoned Eggs

Maybe there's a reason the male leaves the cave, happened a few times here when the sun was shining straight into the male's cave. Make sure you cover the cave up as much as you can, so it's really dark in and around the cave. Also try not to disturb him to much with a torch, just leave him alone an...

Re: River Tanks

To answer your question, I think the reason you don't see those setups very often is because of a few factors. The main one being you don't actually need a setup like that to actually breed the l46(that is if you want to keep the 46 in the tank). Another one could be the aesthetics factor; it's not ...

Re: Babies sudden death

Try viformo from Sera, the fry love it here.
Make sure you crush it before you throw it in though.

Re: Anybody have an easy way of catching fry without

Hey Bob, A few post down you can see I have a rock-heavy setup, I'm experiencing the same problems as you do catching fry. for me the best catching method is getting all the rocks out from one side. This will force the adults to move to the other part of the tank. The fry however won't do the move o...

Re: My L46 tanks

A very interesting quote, I wonder if more of these reviews can be found somewhere. Been looking a long time for similar descriptions/reviews, preferably a bit longer with pictures though. :loldude: So what the floor of the Xingu may actually look like where the zebras live will look somewhat differ...

Re: new fish

Sandra, moved the post to your original topic to keep a better overview. Did you let the fish acclimatise before you added them to the new tank? In this case it would be helpfull to post your water parameters. How long was the tank running before you added the l46? Do you have a picture of the tank,...

Re: new fish

Welcome and congrats on the spawn, it's perfectly fine to keep the fry in the tank. I keep the fry in the tank too and on a later stage move them to a grow out tank. It's really hard to put a number on how many times they spawn, I've had continuous spawns every few weeks and then months of inactivit...

Re: My L46 tanks

It's similar in a way that you'll find sand and rocks in the xingu but nothing more.
Have a look at this underwater footage from the xingu if it interests you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgfjRA0H0Wo

Re: PLEASE post your tank setups!

Yes those are cardinal tetras, they only stay in the darker parts of the tank.
The stones are found in Belgium (google ardenner breuksteen), bought them in a garden center.
The caves are indeed in between the rocks, each one is places so I can view inside.
