Re: pics of my new zebra pleco spawn
Hi I am thinking with my spawn that it must be two different females as I have 8 fry for sure maybe 10 in the cave with dad now, and the egg bundle is almost as big as the first batch but looks like smaller actual eggs on this one. I was debating trying to catch the fry but I have not seen them vent...

Re: pics of my new zebra pleco spawn
Hi har_eh Wow and I thought that I was lucky!!! Yeah I can see now that the male is really good at taking care of his brood. I must have agitated him with the flashlight last night and next thing you know there was a single egg beside his tail so I shut off my flashlight right away. I was so paranoi...

Re: pics of my new zebra pleco spawn
Hi John I think you are right. This male seems to really know what he is doing. At one point there was a egg at the entrance to the cave so I was worried he might do something, but I shut off the lights and just left them alone. I just checked this morning and he is still rolling the eggs around and...

Re: pics of my new zebra pleco spawn(update)2spawn in cave
Wow this is just crazy!!! I have a second spawn in the cave with the fry at the same time. I had a bit of a let down after my second male ate his eggs, so I just kept checking the fry. Well last night I could see at least 8 fry on top of the cave but towards the front of the cave. This was odd becau...

Re: pics of my new zebra pleco spawn
Ya, I think it's just my luck. I actually had a 2nd male spawning a few days after the first one and I could see a egg so I was super pumped thinking I had two batches going at once. But I jumped the gun and I think he ate it. I was still positive because later that day there was a female in there w...

Re: How can you tell if the eggs from a zebra pleco are fert
Wow that is quite the variety. I never did try giving my guys the green rapashy, I just assumed nothing but meat, I'll have to give it a go when things settle down.
Good luck with your plecos, hope you have lots of spawns

Re: How can you tell if the eggs from a zebra pleco are fert
I tried the meat pie version I never actually saw my plecos eat it. There would always be a chunk of it left in the morning usually covered In snails. Which version of the rapashy do your plecos eat? I have mine on a diet of worm flake and shrimp pellets. The flake food I guess might be a bit of a w...

Re: How can you tell if the eggs from a zebra pleco are fert
I was pretty lucky, I got a fish guy who hand picked these guys out for me. All I had to do was feed them, and change water for a little over a year and now I have a spawn. I look at these guys even now i still have difficulty picking out which ones are the females, just the extra hairy males I can ...

Re: How can you tell if the eggs from a zebra pleco are fert
Hi, I was told that they were wild caught. I bought them as a group of 12, but I can't be sure if I still have that many left with all the caves and rocks. When I first bought these guys I was super paranoid I might kill these guys from improper care so I kinda went overboard and stuck them in a 90 ...

Re: How can you tell if the eggs from a zebra pleco are fert
Yes the first time as far as I know, I had a really busy 60 days where I did very little maintenance and all of a sudden I see this oversized egg with a stingy thing sticking out. For the last two days one egg seems to get by the male and is just hanging out. Don't quite know how it even moves tho, ...

How can you tell if the eggs from a zebra pleco are fertile?
Hi, i have a zebra pleco that has been fanning eggs for 3 days now and I have a question. How do you know if the eggs are fertile or not? If they were infertile would he just kick the eggs out or even eat them? I am trying not to shine the flashlight on him too much, but he is really covering them u...

Hi Doug
Is it okay to ask what the article is about? I do not even know if I am allowed to ask.
