My tap water is at about 8+ PH and my KH is 0. What would you do to lower the PH and raise the KH? My method to safe guard the water from a PH crash was to put crushed coral in my filter, but by doing this, it keeps my PH really high. I went to the fish store to buy some slate for my zebras. They charge $2/lbs so it would run at least $100 to furnish my 60 gallon.

I went to a hardware store and picked up some slate from there. Is there any specific slate that I need or will any slate work for them?

Also, doesnt the bloodworms and Tetra Prima get blown everywhere from the strong currents? I feed right before lights out so I can't turn the filters off and then turn them back on later with out setting my alarm clock.
