Now I have no idea what to do with the 100lbs of sand I purchased with the intent of setting up a zebra breedery...
Hmmm. Guess I'll not be buying kitty litter for a while. Hope the cat doesn't mind.

Nice setup
That is a nice looking setup. The driftwood is perfect and looks like it belongs right where it is. A comment and a question. First, thanks for providing the gallon conversion for the liters, that gave me a better idea of what I was looking at. My question is what is the object in the front left of ...

Problem with Safari
Hi Rob & all, I thought it was my imagination but it is not! At work on Windows XP I can see the menubar on the hompage, but when I get home and look at the site on my iMac (running OSX 10.4.6) using Safari 2.0.3 I cannot see the navigation toolbar on the frontpage! It is just not there. To get ...

I hate ads like that too
I agree, that is very distasteful to me but I also understand the position Rob is in. It is funny what associations Google ads draws. I noticed on a different pleco board that there were a bunch of ads for companies that sold minerals and gemstones. Apparently the reoccurrance of the words "gol...

Congrats to Andy from Andy
I agree with Barbie as well. It doesn't matter how good an aquarist you are, how many years you've been doing it, all it takes is one power outages, a visiting child "feeding" the fish, an exterminator spraying insecticide too close outside...

Separate species?
Do these hybrids truly count in a biological sense as separate species since they breed and remain fertile? Wouldn't that imply that these are simply variants of the same species?

I could be wrong
My impression was that zebras bred in horizontal caves, not vertical although the fish have a mind of thier own.

Muriatic acid is easily found
Home Depot or any hardware store will have muriatic acid, it's cheap as well. I gather from reading your posts that you are fairly young. I would NOT use muriatic acid without adult supervision. This is a serious, powerful acid and it can hurt you if it gets on you. With that said, if you have your ...

I think you are right
Throughout the 80's and 90's the way most fish wholesalers communicated to stores was the weekly fax of the fish list. The fish list was remarkably uninformative. It would read something like: card tet lg .60, plco sm .45, grn terror md .40 imagine that for two or three single spaced pages and you h...

Getting rid of them is easy
Raul-7, all you need to do is put a piece of romaine lettuce on the bottom of the aquaium (you'll have to weigh it down). When it is covered with snails, take it out and throw it away. Repeat as needed to thin population. Note: Make sure the snails you remove die. It sounds cruel, but the problem is...

Hey thebuddy, aquatic clarity is right about that. Aquarium hobbyists are going to have to start being careful about dechlorination, at least in the United States. Currently the EPA allows 4.0ppm of chlorine/chloramines as the Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL) in tap water. I have been told...
