Do I see a pattern? It seems to get zebras to breed all you need is to be named Barb and then to ignore the tank a while.

Nice work Woodle-

I am gonna change my name to Barb

The Great Zebra Fry Hunt Results

I finally did it. The Great Fry Hunt in my 30 breeder tank is done. Best I can tell is the count is 53 you tell me http://twotankamin.smugmug.com/photos/812372615_REKgt-L.jpg The potential bad news is all iIcan count are 12 adults which means I must have lost one. But never found a body or remains. ...

Um- the top picture shows the cave.

That tank is small- but it has always held a pair of discus- had spawns in there too.

Zebras in discus tank

had these two long before i got my breeding group. Had to park them somewhere so I put them in with a discus pair. I finally took a couple of pics: http://twotankamin.smugmug.com/photos/812372625_EVXaX-L.jpg and http://twotankamin.smugmug.com/photos/812372294_EbXJi-L.jpg oh well here are the discus ...

Bad idea imo. 260s will bully zebras. For a long time I kept a tank with 2 male 260s, pair of 134s and adult zeb pair. All got in the same box. In 10 month one zeb lost and 3 juvies about 1.75 added. later a pair of 333 were added. When I converted to all zebs this year and redid the tank I had 2 ze...

Without being rude and asking how much, I also would like to know what size the fish are and how many and if they have been sexed? I can't go look because the distance is too severe but I can figure something out. I do know is I would never make an offer to buy zebras fish without having the above i...

The Great Fry Hunt- Do it or not?

Here is the situation: -A breeding colony of 13 zebras housed in a 30B. -Fry from 5-6 spawns from Apr. to the current batch of eggs have been left in the tank while the fry from 3 other spawns were removed to a 15 gal. growout tank. - The number of fry in the breeder tank is unknown but there are an...

I pulled two spawns by removing the whole cave with dad and babies in it after the fry went free swimming but before dad kicked them out. they went into their own 15 gal growout tank which did use 50% water from the breeding tank. The fry were out w/i about 36 hours and the caves and males were retu...

I hate to admit this- but I bought a proven breeding colony of wild fish on Apr. 18 and had eggs within a week of putting them into my tank. I have spawn #8 just about free swimming now.

All I did was buy them and they just started right up without any help or prodding from me at all.

One good pic deserves another. This was my pair before I had to sell them to make room for zebras.

I have both denisonii and cards. They do not work well together in the same tank. The barbs are a very active fish which puts off the cards who do not understand this larger fish is not a danger. Instead of schooling, the cards hid in the plants all the time. The cards are now in with 5 similarly si...

I guess I am doing it bass ackwards. 13 adults and a lot of fry in a 30 gal breeder (36x18x13). There is a ton of rock, slate and wood and 2 males are spawning fairly regularly. 4 spawns, 2 from each male were left in the main tank. Then to hedge things, the next 2 spawns (1 from each) were pulled t...
