I wouldn't treat it at present but instead just keep a close eye him for a day or two. If it gets worse then treat it but mine have had injuries like that a couple of times and they always heal up fine.

32mm cave width does sound a little thin though, my smallest are 36mm wide.

By red I assume you mean terracotta pots. As long as they are new and clean then yes they should be fine as terracotta is inert if memory serves me correctly. Either way, I've used them many times with no problems at all. :)

I guess it depends on what you define as 'best'. From a zebs perspective I would say a sand substrate it best but from a easy to clean perspective I'd say don't use a substrate at all as has already been suggested. With a sand substrate you'll see the zebs digging or rubbing themselves in it, which ...

it's down for me too at the moment. The New Scientist site has been up and down all evening. It took me ten minutes of trying when I saw the link to finally read the page on the NS site myself... :D . Hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

Is it affecting Rio xinguas well? I think it's just the amazon, at the moment. I think you're right with your comments though. It's difficult to pass judgement on something happening in another country when all it does is affect your hobby, something many people in the world would class as a luxury...
