Very sorry to hear and see you loss. Its never easy to lose any fish let alone a Zebra plec.
The cave does look very narrow so it couple be possible that it got stuck but unlikely. Fish often hide when feeling stressed and or unwell so maybe it went there to die (so to speak).

Hi Paul, I know your busy, but you obviously have the knack of breeding fish. I suppose my best advice would be for you to keep hold of them for as long as you can, and as you say get as many of the resulting youngsters out to people you know who will treat them right and hopefully get more youngste...

Hi Paul, I thought it might be you although I wasn't sure. How are the youngsters coming along? Well I hope. I have just replied to your message from the classifieds site although it was before I came here so didn't realise it was you. Having only met you twice I realise you have a vast wealth of ex...

Lyretail, you obviously have a decent grasp of water chemistry and how it can alter and therfore be controlled, so if you can maintain your low KH etc the that is great for your purposes. However, as Barbie said, most people do not want to take this risk as there is no need, and in the case of this ...

I see what your saying LyreTail but with a kH of 1 no paranoia is required as a pH is a very real possibility! I accept regular water changes will help to prevent this but from reading previous posts from Glockfu, regular water changes were not happening. In relation to Kent RO right being a waste o...

Lovely set-ups you have guys!! Nesolb, I'm sure nothing will go wrong but have you considered splitting you group? Firstly to hopefully allow for better growth and more importantly incase something should go wrong in your tank...I't sure it won't but its worth considering. I once lost a whole tank o...

Hi and welcome Firstly your setup sounds great for 5-6 zebras!! Secondly, $90/fish is absolutely nothing for these fish these days. At that price I would get as many as I could. Over in the UK they are going for $300+ of your Canadian dollars!! Zebras are relatively hardy fish but to make th...

Good to hear your zebra is hopefully on the mend. No worries for the advice, I am by no means an expert. In fact no one in this hobby is an expert as everyone is always learning. :D Over my 15+ years of fishkeeping I have learn't the best methods are nearly always to keep things simple. Plenty of fi...

I'm not saying the death wasn't due to a fight but the reddening in the areas you describe are also indicative of a bacterial infection. If your filters are established then you should not have an ammonia or nitrite reading unless you stocking levels are very high and/or you are overfeeding. If you ...
