When does a zebra become an adult?

Both of my zebras are at least 18 months old - is it possible to sex a zebra correctly by this age. Why I am asking is because, the zebra I thought was a male doesn't appear to have the very long odontodes and any other noticeable signs of a male other than it is always in the cave.

What temperature?

I notice that the Ebayers selling L046 keep them at 98oF - I wondered what temperature you all keep yours at. Mine are kept at 84oF and they are not very active - would increasing the temperature encourage them out more?

Hi Rob

I second Alevans suggestion, Shirley Aquatics is certainly worth a look - just off the M42.

Rob, The shoaling fish that I find the most active and interesting are the Tiger Barbs - the PH would be OK and I keep them at a similar temperature to you - although they might be a bit too 'busy' for the discus and they are known for 'fin nipping' although in my tank because I have 15 of them they...

McEve, I'd love to participate but, like Shell231 I just can't get a full photo of him - he skuttles quickly back into his cave. The only thing I could do is move the bogwood and the cave out of the tank and start shooting :D

Perhaps I'll leave it and wait for the next time you have a competition!!

Thank you for your replies. I agree with your comments on the Hydor, I have tried it in all my tanks with no success, I just thought somebody might have some suggestions. I only have the two zebras/2 cory in a Jewel 70 and all water test are fine - I had read that oxygen levels were of paramount imp...

Help needed re: Oxygen levels

Hi, I purchased an O2 Tetra test kit and was surprised to find that the reading showed only 2mgl in the zebra tank. I have an internal fluval and an external Eheim with spray bar together with an air pump. From previous posts I accept that this is not high enough and would like to use my Hydor 4 whi...

I've tried and tried to get mine to eat cucumber and they don't touch it - havn't tried putting garlic on it yet, so will give that a try because I feel veggies must be good for them
