Re: Add fish to the group
No matter how long fish have been in another trusted fish keeper's tank, the stress of being netted and moved can open them to illness/parasites/etc. I would suggest that you do quarantine yhem for a few weeks. If they do fine in your water during that period, then you are OK to move them in with yo...

Re: Fading zebra why?
Fighting can cause fading and even damage right through to death. That is why clearer pictures would be helpful.
And yes, they do fade, especially when in submissive mode.

Re: Sweden
The above Swedish translates as follows "Yesterday I picked out some eggs from a cave"
It helps if we all write in English since this is primarily and English language site.

Re: New Zebra tank build Information required please.
I only suggest two bottled bacteria products in terms of cycling. The best is Dr. Tim's One and Only Nitrifying bacteria. This is hard to find in the UK/Europe, but not impossible. The next best choice is Tetra's Safe Start. The nitrifying bacteria do not form spores. They reproduce by dividing. Whe...

Re: New Zebra tank build Information required please.
Tetras here are a very bad idea, get them out. A sick tetra which can kill a healthy zebra ...... makes no sense...... Adding bio-load does not help a cycle, it makes it more deadly and take longer. Moving water does not help a cycle. The bacteria live inside a bio-film which attaches them to solid ...

Re: Hello everyone. Manchester location here.
Welcome to the site and the wonderful world of zebras.
Consider a nice piece of wood and some rockwork
And please be sure to fill the tank all the way up. More water = healthier water.

Re: My colony 12 l046 200 liters
Welcome to the site. I tend not to want to sex other people's zebras unless they supply a good shot from below and that shows the tube. Aside from that I use much bigger pictures so I can see the details of things like the odontile growth on the sides of the head and on the pectorals. However, I wou...

Re: Oxydator
I should have also mentioned that zebras do need well oxygenated water. This is because the higher the water temperature, the less dissolved oxygen it can hold. And zebras like warm water. Oxygen needs are also why the zebra is limited in its range to the Big Bend. This is full of rapids which keep ...

Re: Oxydator
I have been keeping and spawning zebras for over a dozen years. I would never add peroxide to any of these tanks. I have seen it kill fish. I have never had oxygen level issues simply by insuring there is adequate surface agitation and good circulation in the tank. Finally, I do not read German so h...

Re: Hello everyone!!!
Zebras are not the ideal pleco to start with for spawning. Mistakes can be expensive. A lot of folks start with something a lot easier to learn and then move on from there. The most common starter pleco are the bristlenose. Most of the common tank strains are not difficult or expensive. The owner of...

Re: Breeder Group wanted!
Welcome to the site. Be aware that finding proven breeding groups of zebras for sale is not a common thing. I turned down outrageous money for my group at the height of the market, pricewise. Its simple, ones sells the golden eggs, not the goose. I was fortunate to acquire such a group int 2006. I h...
