I dont think small pleco will use the cave. they will just hiding anywhere.

I would suggest more hidding place. The second rock from the left looks like it can fall at any time.

I got mine in 18x18x12 with couple of driftwood and plants. there is one driftwood is sort of bend and have about 1cm tall space between the bottom and driftwood and all of them just hidding in there. One time during midnight I suddenly using torch and look at them and some of them are outside, but ...

I think If you keep the same amount number of fish in the tank, even if the tank is bigger, logically the filter will required the same amount of bacteria to cycle the tank.

u can use ph down, or put some driftwood in it, it will lower the ph down slowly
