I also turn heater and filter off when doing a water change but i do heat my water the same temperature as the fish tank, and using a bucket does'nt seem to do harm at all to the fish.

I would be tempted to do a 50% water change

I have a fish with the same problem but the redness goes all along the front fins. Its been like this for some time now. I'm reluctant to use chemicals as all the other zebs are fine.
