Sorry for your troubles.
Here is a link for a list of Exotic Pet Vets i found in a UK search; http://www.livefood.co.uk/vets.htm
Better to phone first, as i see that "The University Of Glasgow; Small Animal Hospital" is by referral only hospital.

Lucy, sorry to hear about your zebs ! Not sure what could be happening, though i did invest in an RO Unit for my tap water as Neil from Pier Aquatics told me high phosphate readings are detrimental to a plecs health over the long term. Though the RO Unit still hasn't helped me with random fry deaths...

From what i have read about oak leaves, they are fine to use in a tank. Just make sure you pick up freshly fallen leaves off the ground and not any leaves hanging on the tree, so that it is dead leaves you are using. It also depends how fussy you are about what you put in your tanks as to whether yo...

Hello Charlie I use Almond Leaves with my apistogrammas but not my zebras. They are good for apistogrammas because they like the tannin stained water, and leaves are good hiding places for such small fish, and also a good food source for newly hatched apisto fry. The only down side to almond leaves ...

Hi The best bags I have found for shipping plecos are JBL pro fish bags they are purpose made with a curved seam at the bottom with no corners at all and very thick, you can't beat them although they are a lot more costly than a standard fish bag but worth every penny when it comes to sending / tra...

Some good ideas for draining a tank. But to me a Python Gravel Cleaner is a great way to empty to your tank, they come in 25ft or 50ft sizes. http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/catalogue/water-changers.asp#product1032 The only drawback i have noticed is fancy taps are not the best shape for connecting...

Thanks Jamie A longer trap is a good idea. Ordering some perspex and sponge filters and i'm going to make a few longer traps to keep the fry in for a good while. The fry deaths i have been having must have be down to starvation, as the fry must not have been venturing far to find the food. And when ...

Keeping fry in hatcher
After re-reading my first spawning thread, i see that John keeps his fry in a hatcher in the parents tank for around three months. I used to move the fry into a growout tank from the hatcher when a new brood appearred out of the cave, which is approx one month, thought two broods would be two much f...

Hello Elaine The female trying to get into a males cave is a excellent sign, i had that when i kept mine in a group in my big tank. I could see the female trying to get in by the male, and no matter how hard she tried to squeeze in, he didn't seem interested, and she eventually gave up. It is just d...

Fry Survival Rate Percentage
After reading another thread where T.T.A. said his fry losses were about 40%, it has me wondering what the general percentage of fry losses were that zebra breeders have ? Last year from about fifty to sixty fry had a survival rate of about 20%. It is not a topic to see who has the best survival rat...
