Egg Gestation:

I have a simple question. How long do the eggs take to hatch? I have heard anywhere from 7 days to 10 days and then an additional 10 days for them to adsorbe their yolk sack. I know that temperature plays an important part in this. I keep all my aquariums at a constant 82 degrees.

Thanks, Jeff

Hi McEve and thanks for the response, I have kept the three in a 10 gallon tank by themselves since they were about 2+ months old. I was wondering if it could have something to do with when they were fry. I use pinecone looking caves so the back is funneled to a single point, and maybe they got squa...

Need Advice Please (Pectoral Fins)

Hello All, I had my first successful spawn (3 Fry) over a year ago. Now when I look at their pectoral fins they just don’t look right to me. The fins look to big and curved up and out. They are from wild caught parents so inbreeding shouldn’t be a factor. Below are pictures of the three. Can you gi...

Thanks for noticing, I was wondering the same thing. They look kind of wide and pushing up. I was wondering if this is something it might grow out of. If not, I don't know what to do with it.

I would also like to see them go to someone who knows what they are doing. This next comment may make me sound a little jaded, but people, (in this case buyers) are not always as honest or sincere as they appear to be! If I am going to sell them I may as well get the best price I can. No matter who ...

Selling Strategy, What Do You Think?

At what size or age can the gender of a Zebra accurately be determined? Because females are in such high demand everyone wants to purchase them, that will leave the seller with extra males. It just makes sense to me that selling them before the sexes can be determined is a good marketing strategy. I...

Thanks for the info. I have several Zebras (F0’s) in the same tank and they have spawned on a few occasions, but because I keep the front and sides of the aquarium covered so not to disturb them, I have been unable to see the female with the male. Yesterday I noticed these two in the same cave so I ...

Deformed Fins!!!

Hi All, I just noticed that one of my 3+ month old fry has Deformed Pectoral Fins ( They Curve Upward ). I have also noticed this type of deformity in Angel Fish Fry. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or is it genetic? The parents are F0’s and my tanks are very clean. I do frequent...

Statistics (Age to Growth Ratio)

Hi Guys, How about a timeline for the growth rate of the L-46’s? This would be very helpful in determining if our fry are developing at a normal rate. For example: if my six month old Zebra is only ¼” and should be ½” then I would know that something’s not right and I can then take corrective action...
