FS: Adult F1 Zebra Pleco Males
For sale are two mature adult zebra pleco males. These males are subdominat mature males from my colony. They are approximately 5 years old, hence full grown. They are not breeders in my colony. I am selling them because of the infighting with the two dominate males, these guys need to find peaceful...

Re: Camallanus - Attn mistern2005
Elizabeth - I know this can be frustrating. But with a hard challenge, such as treating camallauns, will give great rewards once accomplished. It can be done. Please keep in mind, I am not a vet, nor claim to be an expert. Keeping that in mind, the link from TTA is the standard "What to do abou...

Re: RO Right Kent Freshwater product
I use to use RO Right to increase the TDS of my RO water when adding back to the tank. I read something (don't remember where) that most of the hardness comes from salts so I switched to a general GH booster. It is my opinion that the water requires a bit of hardness to help the health of my fish, p...

Re: tds
My theory is that the decrease in dissolved organics helps trigger a spawn in captive bred zebras. It's a theory, and would be difficult to prove, but it is a theory. The reason that I think the theory might be valid is that during water changes I don't noticeably alter the TDS or temperature, yet m...

Re: tds
My TDS is normally about 135. When I do a water change I try to get close...say between 110 and 135.
I am not sure if it is the decrease and TDS or the decrease of nitrates in the water (or a combination of the two) which helps trigger a spawn.

Re: Cutting Anubias Nana rhizome - toxic for zebs?
I've never heard of this. I cut my small Anubias nana 'petite' all the time in my old tank with my zebras and had no ill effects.

It's hard to say until you see the male guarding eggs. But I will say it is a very good sign that, at the very least, they are "practicing"!

Continual Breeding?
Last week, my breeding male, Lloyd, spawned for the 9th time in 8 months. One of the months he spawned with two different females. I am curious how long a small colony of zebras (4M/3F) will breed for? I thought mine would breed for 6 months or so then take a break for 3-4 months, then repeat the cy...

Re: Mixing Adults and Juveniles/ Babies
It isn't a problem. Many folks keep juveniles with adults, especially after breeding!

Re: Too small to be sold?
1/2" to 3/4" are probably 2-3 months old at the most.
I have had success shipping juveniles that are 1.25"TL, but I haven't tried anything smaller than that and don't think I will.
