Re: Starting again. L046 :-)

good luck with your new group. I find the juvis arn't as shy as the adults. I've got one juvi in with 9 adults ( and numerous babies ). The juvi thinks he runs the tank  I bought that juvi at Maidenhead aquatics in Ashtead. He is the best looking zeb I have - fins have an extremely bright blue ...

Re: eggs?

I realise what has happen now ..... should have been obvious immediately ... the two that died are actually new babies from a different cave ( also first spawn for this dad ) , hence they were so small. I found another dead today and another two with a huge egg sacks trying to swim around the tank!!...

Re: eggs?

thanks - I will definitely do that! They do have a few places to hide but clearly need more. Don't worry the photos I've taken of them isn't their normal behaviour ( out in the open ) .... I had just turned the light on at night. I generally don't see them at all which worries me that they have died...

Re: eggs?

wow that is great yours are still spawning, you must take amazing care of them to have had them that long - I hope mine keep going! :) Thanks for all your advice in the last post - I think you are right ... the aggressive female is not the mum of the original eggs. And I'm pretty sure the second cav...

Re: Tank Cleaning

I try to avoid moving stuff around as much as possible ... it seems to irritate them & they change caves .. but I can't help myself sometimes :) just to make sure everything is clean.

Re: eggs?

Many thanks TwoTankAmin! .... the lone egg ended up rolling into a section near the cave with good water flow over it ... its kind of sitting in a ditch where none of the Zebras go ... so I've decided to leave it there until a breeding trap & egg tumbler I've order arrives. I'll then try the tur...

Re: eggs?

..... Should I rearrange the cave so it slants up a little as opposed to down ? Or better not to touch it at this point? Thanks

Re: eggs?

Thanks for the reply TwoTankAmin ...... There are eggs!!!!! Didn't really expect them to be breeding so soon as I only got these fish a few months back and have just rearranged the tank a little. Slight problem though .... the cave is slanting down a little and one egg has rolled towards the...

eggs?

I couldn't find one of my zebs for a couple of days, and now realise he is right at the back of a cave waving his little tail around in there. Usually my zebras sit towards the entrance of the caves with their tails hanging out. Could he have eggs in there? ( I don't want to shine a light in ). I di...

@TwoTankAmin, Many thanks for your reply. Will get myself a digital TDS tester. The little zeb hasn't repeated this behaviour since improvements in the water conditions :)

Re: new juvenile constantly fanning

Thanks for the reply! :) he was just doing it on a rock ... And is a bit to young for spawning. He was breathing quite rapidly it seemed and almost looked like he was shivering. Thankfully the next morning he looked a bit better. I checked the water conditions ( this time with proper test kit rather...

new juvenile constantly fanning

Hi! I've had a new juvenile for about a week now. The first few days he didn't really do much ... just hid behind some wood and wasn't very active. Today he has been hiding in some rocks but seems to be constantly fanning his fins - could he be stressed ? He looks fine other than this behaviour - I'...
