Re: Introducing new Zebs

Yeah I know the feeling! The only reason why I only have 1 tank and 17 is because my wife stops me! But if I was left to my own...I would have like 10 tanks with all Zeb groups..maybe one or two l260 groups. I'm still waiting on my first, but hope I will acheive it. If I got to you stage I would be ...

Re: 3rd Spawn

Again not bred. But just based on things, I've learnt on here (I've like read almost every thread, and it is very useful). 1) They have an airstone or air running to eggs to ensure they are aerated and to compensate for the father not being around to fan 2) I think they are kept for a month or two i...

Re: Introducing new Zebs

I haven't bred any Zebs (sorry, but I thought I would give an opinion). But my understanding from having them and introducing new fish to my group over the years: 1) Adult Male, re-establish of male hierarchy. Fighting till it is settled 2) Adult Female, re-establish of female hierarchy. Fighting am...

Re: M or F????

I'm no expert but I can see the biggest (the one in the middle of two) is probably a male; due to the V shape and the broad head. The other to young to tell. Maybe the other is hard to tell, because of the angle. IMO I still think this is the most informative and practical way if identifying male or...

Trapping and how long

Hi all, My Zebra's have been trapping on and off everyday for over a month now! Sometimes for the whole day. Sometimes for a few hours. But still no eggs or anything. No UV sterliser used, no chemicals added. Do any of you know normally how long this goes on for or if there is anything I can do? It'...

Re: M or F????

Hi Wu,

IMO they are too young to sex at present.
I would be confident that there would be a least one female in the group as time progresses. As it appears you bought them rather young. The likelyhood they are all male is unlikely.

Thanks,

Re: male or female?

I'm no expert.

But I think Female coming on to maturity, based on the shape of the head and the slight shape of the body.

Re: Zebra tank set up help.

Hi,

In my opinion, I would use black sand for colour enhancement and ensure you have a white/blue light.
But currently I use a bare bottom tank as it is more practical to clean.

Thanks,

Re: male or female??

I think you have around 1-2 years for them to mature. But put it this way. Assuming the person you bought them from did not purposely pick on or the other you have a 50% chance either way. So to have 3 females/ 3 males it would be a 50% chance either way: Male and Male and Male = 50%X50%x50% = 12.5%...

Re: L046 Black vs White

Hi There, I think it is rather interesting to. Most of mine are relatively normal colourations. Some more white with thinner lines. Have one which is as dark as that. I presume of lot of this is genetic, genotype versus phenotype. With the black and white colours being the dominant genotype. But the...

Hi,

I would say it's too young to tell what sex it is.

Thanks,

Re: Hello everyone, could anyone identify a female amongst t

It not easy to tell.

But the majority with the exception of the two younger ones look male.

You probably need a higher res picture. As it is hard to zoom in.

Anyhow blue are males.
Yellow probably to young to tell.
Red females.

Thanks,
