Re: gender L46
I cannot tell with any certainty from your pics. I am poor at sexing. If I can observe two mature individuals in the same tank by themselves for a some number of days, I can tell. Ehe one way I can reliably sex them is by venting the fish. Usually, with pics, I will go as far as saying same sex or d...

Re: Heyy all, 13 years and I am returning
Welcome back.
The cheapest zebras are coming from Asia. There is at least one really good breeding operation of which I am aware. But to get the best prices means buying a few hundred. Minimum order would be 50 fish,

New Group for me.
One of the advantages for me from working with zebras was that they became a springboard for getting new species. I was ablle over time to parlay my good luck with spawning things to allow me to acquire a group of wild P. compta, then a group of L173b from Glase in germany. This then became a group ...

Good luck with your new Hypancistrus. Both of them like similar conditions and will do best in a species tank.

Neither of those supplements contains the proper bacteria. Use either Dr. Tim's One and Only of Tetra Safe Start. Dr. Tim also sells ammonium chloride for cycling. I use both of his cycling products. Stability contains spores and the nitrifying bacteria do not form spores. Neither of them contain th...

Summer 2019 Breeding project
I think this is the proper place for this thread. Here is the immediate plan. 1. I am behind on regular maint. and water changes. So I need to get caught up. 2. I would like to get usable pictures of the current set-ups and post them in this thread. 3. I have two short term projects. One is to conve...

Welcome to the site and to the wonderful world of zebra. Bear in mind that there are different ways to work with zebras. In the end we all have to learn what works best in our tank(s). Anything below which says how I do it should be seen as my way but not the only way nor even the best way. A few ge...

Re: Hallo from Hungary
Welcome back to the world of zebras. I have never found it easy to sex zebras by body characteristics. I can vent them and that is more reliable, but they need to be as large as the ones you mention. I often find at that size and in the right tnak set-up, I can sex them based on their behavior. Of c...

Re: L333 and L134
Folks will react differently here and can give varying advice. I would never buy a pleco hybrid knowingly unless it was a single fish and was never going to be bred. I am not in favor of hybrids at all. Since you provided no location information I cannot comment on pricing. But, in the states those,...
