The north pole isn't even situated on solid ground, it's on a big ice floe  And that ice doesn't belong to Denmark - nice try though kgroenhoej  hehe - That didn't work - but at least Greenland is connected with the north pole  Strange why the Swedes don't try to claim him... maybe t...

Norway is closer to the north pole then Finland, so we have a slight edge on them there ;) hehe - this is fun. You're both so wrong... The north pole is part of Greenland and Greenland is part of Denmark. Remember to vote for the tails though! We're not voting on where Santa lives  ...

No, I don't speak german - unfortunately. The german-class in school was not very exciting and I didn't pay it as much attention as I should have done - I regret that very often now a days...
I babelfish too :-)

the pictures of the L18-mutants (p.43) were all taken from wild caught animals. Aquarium Glaser, where the pictures were made, received these fish all at one time from the normal exporter of this species from Brazil. They even came together with the high-fin mutant of L81 (p.79), which made me call...

How do you know that the picture is of a WC and not a tankbreed L-18 I do not know of any successfully/documented breedings of L-18 and I believe it's save to assume that this bulldog-L-18 is wc. Erwin Schraml (picture by him) might of course clarify if the pictured fish is f1 or wildcaught. Let's ...

I like it :-) I want one too... But I'm a bit worried about the DO in the last section - when all the sponges are in place and matured (full of the good stuff) sponges will use some DO. Do the water-surface "move" enough (in the last sections) to create enough DO?

It happens in other species as well. I've seen ancistrus f1-fry with this defect. And there's a picture in the New L-numbers of a wildcaught L18-"bulldog". I'm with the egg-shell-theory. I think that the egg is sometimes to hard to crack for the fry (sometimes alone and sometimes with the ...

The noise from the the drain-pipe will decrease if you use submerged intake. You don't want the drain-pipe to be complete filled with water when using submerged intake - a filled drain-pipe will create suction and the water-level will very quickly drop below the intake (with a very loud suction soun...

My outflow is also drilled directly into the tank. My standpipes are behind a Hamburger Mattenfilter.
You will need something to stop fish from swimming up into the downward opening of the standpipe.
A chamber-wall is effective to skim the surface - but it's definitely not necessary.

Please have a look at:

I made my own standpipes exactly like Dursos and I'm very satisfied with the noise-level (or the lack of noise) :-)
