Looks to be a female to me. Where in OH are you located? I am in Columbus and have a few F-1 sub-adults I am raising. Always nice to know another zebra keeper.

Finally Another Spawn

I remember when I first came to this site 3 or 4 years ago, man has it grown with the interest these guys have had as of late. Some of you may remember when I moved and lost my whole colony of breeding zebra plecos to a heater malfunction. I still saved 20 of the babies and they are still growing (2...

Aquabid.com Auction-What is it really?

There is an interesting set of plecos on aquabid.com right now. They are labeled as l-287 but look more like l-250's to me. Thinking about bidding on them, give me your input:

I would have to vote for the Blue Eye Panque being the most rare. Certainly L-236 and L-46 are on the list. I also think L-250 would be a highly desired but rare species. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones that come to mind.

I had the same problem, the female wanted to spawn but I don't think the male was that interested. Eventually she had it her way and they spawned. Now to raise the fry.

I guess I should mention that the male was watching the eggs there for a while. But with me watching him with a flashlight and finally cleaning the sponge filter, I think he had had enough. He left the cave for a while and so I decided to steal the eggs. I found 8 egg cases and 9 fertile eggs. These...

As it turns out the female laid 17 eggs!!! Nine of which were fertile. They hatched Monday into Tuesday and so far are looking pretty good. I have one fry with a white, clear belly. The other 8 have the characteristic yellow yolk sac. I will keep everyone updated. I thought perhaps I could use my da...

So Tom, any news on the fry and adult situation? Thank god they know what is going on eh? Rob replied Keep smiling Tom, despite being very , very frustrating, you are past the hardest bit. Oh.. guess what... it doesn't get any less exciting or nailbiting. When I got my fist fry I was absolutely exta...

I thought at first it was due to the move and too much chlorine (I still used dechlor however). Then I stuck my hand in the tank to get the dead fish out. The tank was over 100 degrees, they like it warm, just not that warm. Both heaters got wet and since they were titanium heaters, the sensor broke...

I will try to get some photos but I do not own a digital camera myself yet. Perhaps the zebras will help me get one, who knows. I am just hoping they hatch and I have success once again. I do miss breeding these guys and seeing the fry with the dad in the hole together. It is funny when they try to ...

What size tank do you have them in? Tank size equals territory space. Also make sure there are a lot of hiding places in the aquarium in the form of caves (driftwood, pvc, flower pots, slate, etc.)

Well as it turns out, I've got a breeding male and female. I caught the sight of at least one egg in the cave with the male this morning. After losing my original colony of 6 in a move last August, this is a welcome relief. I randomly purchased two individuals from someone on Aquabid.com. They are o...

I have two zebras myself that are in a cave. Not sure if they are a pair but am hopeful. They went back in Wednesday and do not seem to be fighting. Wish me luck!
