Went to a club meeting, speaker had a pic of the fish he was talking about, but then noted a beer bottle on its side in the tank. It was cleaned out, he said he put food in it and the snails went into it, he would take it out the in a day or two. Now he was raising larger fish, so it may not work fo...

Most people prefer to keep the fry with the parents. I know that doesn't always work, and I would say in your case that it would be risky, since it is a community tank, and most fry don't have much of a chance. I think what does make sense is getting the adults out to their own tank and trying to ra...

Were you were expecting human behavior from fish when eating (or anything else)? All my plecos aren't what I consider good hunters, but rather opportunists, finding what they can, even after they continue to get the same type of meal for years. In the wild the water is moving swiftly around t...

Don't know your CO2 setup, but if is not automated, and continues to supply CO2 during the night, you could have a problem. At night plants use oxygen. If it is automated (like with a solenoid shut off), and if you are planning to have a few zebras, and only are keeping them as tropical fish hobby, ...

Thought I add a pic of my latest success - 12 fry from the breeder tank. Moved them tonight, adding them to the 18 there. I know others like to keep them with the parents, and I'll try that again, but not until I get some success raising them by separation. Have 11 fry from before Oct, in the last 2...

Believe the syno.gran. would enjoy the snack. Actually, not real sure, but believe those syno. gran gets to a fairly large size. Know a friend that had syno petricolas with them, and the zebs were always hiding and pushed around. They acted much better when he took out the syno pets. I would not cha...

They take time getting used to their surroundings, as well as being somewhat shy. Not sure how your tank is decorated, but if you give them several hiding spots they should move around. You might want to look in the tank setup forum to get ideas. Also, when setting up spots for them to hide, if you ...

Ok, females, tend to have shorter snouts. As having been explained to me and checking mine, maybe I'm not explaining it well to you. Harder to do in typing, but the eyes are further back from the tip of the snout on a male, and this is probably due to males battling for territory - to protect themse...
