Re: What is everyone water conditions like for breeding Zebr
Hi There This is a tricky one as the parameters can vary immensley. I have always beleived that so long as the parameters are roughly correct the breeding depends on water quality and whether or not the fish are "interested". However, as a rule my tanks were genreally sitting at around the...

Re: Raising Fry Question.
Hi Mistern2005 It will generally depend on the overall tank set up. Where possible I would leave the eggs and fry with the male throughout, until they were 10 - 12 weeks old, then I would move them to a tank along with other fry. If another spawn occured during this time the fry were already out and...

Re: Setting up Zebra Tank
Hi of1o No real need for lighting apart from for our own aesthetic requirements. I used to light the tanks with a daylight bulb, but stopped once I moved them to breeding set-ups.The tank looks good, make sure that there are plenty of areas for food collect that are still accessible to the "tur...

Re: Got 10 New Zebs
Unfortunately the defining fact on whether or not the zebras will breed is not so much down to the fact that they are wild caught, but more down to the individuals specimens themselves. Whilst the fish should acclimtise relatively quickly if the right conditions are provided, the breeding will only ...

Re: Yeahhh, my first spawn
Hi Jacqueline Excelletn thread and fantastic picures. If this si his first spawn then there is a chance he may wait a while until his next. He has done it once so teh chnaces are he will do ti again, more often than not there doesn;t need to be a reason. Take note when you do your water changes etc ...

Re: Growth Speed Different??
Hi Jaredkuo As TTA says, seperating them is a good idea. If however you do not have the space or an extra couple of tanks at present, try moving the tank furniture around so that the food can collect in different areas. Also, split the feeding into different times, i.e. feed half as much, twice as o...

Re: My 3 young F1's
Hi Fern
To be honest I would be guessing if I made any suggestions as they all look pretty young at present.
Keep an eye on their behaviour and you may get a better indication.
Give it another 6 months and it should be a little clearer. Apologies for not being much help.

Hi everyone, Just thought I would add in another to bump this back up
"Use a turkey baster to suck up stray eggs"
"Don't put the turkey baster back in the drawer without first giving it a bit of a rinse"
