I think because the photo is such a close up shot what we are seeing is normal odontodal growth for an adult male. If it were disease or parasites it would be much larger. Pretty sure it is just the odontodes on the scutes. 8)

I am by no means a veteran zebra pleco spawner, but in my personal experience cave shape is up to the individual fish. I have had spawns in circles, rectangles, and triangles but never squares-go figure!

I am glad to hear it is going well on your spawn! My female is out of the cave but there are no eggs. I think I will have to sort out the extra males in the tank, I believe that is why they're having problems. On a bright note my Mikrogeoghagus altispinosa laid eggs and they just hatched. So it is n...

Good luck! My zebs have not spawned since Jan. either. If yours spawned on the 8th hopefully mine will spawn again soon. I really hope your big guy pulls through for you! :)

I just had the same thing happen with one of my breeding females. Sometimes this can happen when they attempt to spawn. Make sure you stay on top of your water quality-the fish will heal fairly quickly but is prone to bacterial infection while the wound is still fresh. Good luck!

I have to agree 100%, I have a group of 8 and they have spawned 6-8 times since September! It is all on one dominant male too! As soon as he kicks out a batch, he has another female trapped-he has a female trapped right now too! For some reason he has ate his last 3 cluthes though-any ideas why? Any...

I was going to post a pic of my Denisonii barbs, but someone beat me to it. So I decided to post a pic of my alpha female Sphaericthys vallianti. Even through the dirty glass you can see that she is simply stunning!
