Hi, The problem with this worm is that when they exhibit themselves from the vent of the fish , they are at an advanced stage and are reproducing ( into the tank). I once had a newly purchased pair of whiptails that I had put in a zebra tank. The whiptails soon showed signs of this infection after w...

Hi Almost 2 years ago,I had bought a pair of Royal whiptails (Sturisoma) that exhibited the signs, a few days after purchase, of these dreadful worms. Unfortunately I had introduced these fish into one of my Zebra tanks. I treated the tank with Levamisole. Unfortunately the Sturisomas didnt survive ...

Des from Surrey returns.

Hi everyone. I am not new to this forum. Joined very near the beginning. But I had a long break from this forum so just thought I would say Hello to all my "old" friends and say that I am back again. I was just overloaded with a whole lot of things and just needed a break. Having Dial up ,...

Hi Adam, Sorry to hear this bit of bad news.Dont blame yourself as the only way this can be avoided is to have only one male to each breeding tank.As you are aware, this happened to me too with 2 different hypancistrus wanting the same cave, and the zebra dieing from its injuries and fungal infectio...

Hi Jerms5555,

Congrats.
I too would take out the Ram especially. The flying foxes are more herbivores but would remove them too.
Good luck.

Hi Glock fu, I too would agree that it is due to squabbling. Just make sure that if there is any damaged skin, that it does not get fungused as I found out to my cost, it can be fatal. That said, the male that died was involved in quite a bad scuffle and was badly "bruised".2 days later he...

Hi Jerms55555,

I personally would leave any eggs with the Dad until 1 or 2 days prior to free swimming, when they can be put into a fry brooder. Eggs taken away too early are more prone to fungus.
Good Luck

Hi Jerms, In my view nos 1 to 6 are identical with no 7 being slightly different mainly due to its tail shape. Your fish do look like McEves though yours appear to have more deeply forked caudals. In another post else where on this site, I stated that I believed that McEves fish looked like a L287 a...

Hi Adam, Thanks. As you say, I need a fish house. I currently also have 3 pairs of Discus breeding and only my "community" plec tanks for growing on the babies, which should suffice for a short while....... Looks like I'll soon need a business partner with a fish house to grow on my babies...

Congrats Mindy,

What other fish have you got in there with them?
You could always put a tank divider or a fine plastic mesh as obtained at garden centres, to keep the other fish seperate.

Des.

PS Havent yet gone to wholesale Tropicals re: the Farlowellas.

Hi GlockFu, If I may ask, where are you based?. If in the UK, you should be able to get some of the foods I have talked about, but of course the choice of foods, would be different in different parts of the world. Indeed there are advantages and disadvantages to both leaving the babies with the adul...

Hi GlockFu, The choice is yours. Granted that the babies are still alive but skinny. What does this tell you ? Are they eating enough or a varied enough diet ?. Considering their cost and current scarcity , dont they deserve a little more than just Hikari Carnivore pellets. Sorry if this reply seems...

Hi McEve, In my view, it looks identical to L287,Aqualog , top left hand picture on Page 201. The forked tail is also identical. My L333 do not have such a forked tail. I have posted pictures some time ago. Regards, Des. PS. Let me know when your first lot of L333 spawn. Id be interested in some you...

Hi Shell231,

Approx £30 each.
Although I think L316 and L199 look a lot better for the same price.
