No need to apologise elaine, whenever you put. zebras, wild caught, brazil, money all in one sentence you are going to get a mix of reactions. I am guessing that the spawn batch is down to age and experience of parents I think. Over the last few years I have had 1-2 eggs up to 8-9. Then after an 11 month baron period I have had two clutches of 15 eggs! I also suffer from high loss rates but have been working on several things this time rou...

Rearing fry

I think it is difficult to ever say one subject has been fully covered and therefore go and look for answers elsewhere. I have been lucky over the last 5 years to have these fish and successfully got them to breed. However I like many other people are interested to improve the techniques I use, get ...

Cash Cows

I aquired my first zebras over 7 years ago after standing in awe for over an hour in one of my LFS. I was fortunate at the time to then aquire several more, but had no intention to breed. What these fish have now done to me is to motivate me towards my final goal. Move house, build a small fish room...

I have had the same problem as dave has mentioned and I can only think that it is a bacterial infection or territorial dispute hence I was asking the question as to whether there is any limit to keeping fry together. Why is it though tha it is the older fish as apposed to the young fry if it was bac...

Be careful in associating deaths of fry with what you might and might not have done. You have to understand that you will not keep all fry alive, losses will occur in under 6 months, after six moths, etc. I have used different methods, moved fry away from parents when they have concumed the yolk sac...

Do private breeders drive down the price of fish? Take examples of many other species? Have independant breeders managed to bring prices down? i am not saying I know the answers but I have found over the years that if there is a large demand the far east usually begins to get invovled in reproductio...

Originally stated as panaque suttoni several years ago, it was then agreed thatat both a male and female where the descoverers of this fish so the name was altered to panaque suttonorum. As Rob pointed out, the true name fro th...

The fact that these fish are so expensive will ultimately drive their price down. Few shops will buy them off any breeder at the right price, why because most fish shops look to make a minimum of double what they paid for. So hyperthetically you sold your fish for £100, the fish shops would want to ...

Hi Rob,

Have you got the details on the food that you get from ZM?

I have been on their website and not sure which oneyou use.

Is it the ZM 400 or just the discus granules small?
