No problems with Guppies

I have kept guppies with L46 for a while and I didn't experience any problems. The zebras our naturally shy but the guppies seem to ignor them and will eagerly fishish uneaten food.

Cold wood?

I use wood that has fallen into a stream during the winter and decomposed slightly in near freezing water. Although I fully love the wood that my local fish store has, it is rather limited in sizes and shapes. In the spring I travel to the canyon and find wood. The wood looks different because it is...

Cucumber anyone?

I used a slice of cucumber when I had fry. It isn't exactly a well balanced meal, but helped a lot with the survival rates. I would like anyones input/opinion on this. But here is my own. This gave the fry something to munch on 24 hours a day. They would then have enough "energy/desire" to...

Video Links

The site is really well though out and fun. I would also like to see a section that indexed video clips that were on You Tube relating to fish. It may be here and I haven't found it yet. (if so, please remove this post!!)

Silicon......inert

Black silicon is very much the same as the clear. Look at the tube and see what it is rated for. You want 100% silicone and not, paintable, or other types found at stores used for weatherproofing. The fumes are really bad for you, your pets and your fish. After it has cured it 100% silicon is fine f...

It isn't too bad but is it worth it?

Before you read the rest, is it worth it? I had a nephew who was able to shatter a fully stocked 55 gallon tank sending a large piece of glass into his leg and a 6 inch sunami across the floor of the home. Doctors were able to repair his leg and the water was cleaned up, but the damage was far great...

A little about me

Nearly twelve years ago I wrote an 8 page research paper on the L46. These fish were totally captivating to me and I could only find a short paragraph on them anywhere. Years later, the fun is still there. I recently worked on a series of four DVD's on how to maintain and setup an aquarium. You can ...

The comments on the benefits and management

First, I would like to point out that a regular routine of water changes is a lot safer in maintaining a healthy water system than guess work. Do the MTS have benefits, or is it worth it to have snails in a tank? Maybe (don't you love answers like that) I feel it is worth it to have something to get...

The Fine Art of Fish Photography

A few tips on capturing your latest L46 fry or that moment you want to have forever. Many of us are familiar with taking digital photos and even video but have difficulty capturing images when inside an aquarium. First use a tripod. Because the light in a typical aquarium is low being dimmed by the ...
