Young zebs breeding?

I've had these four since May 2007. They were very small, less than half an inch (TL) when I got them. They had been in the same tank for over 2 years but I recently moved them to a new tank. I was having trouble finiding one of them when I noticed two of them in a cave, one way in the back and one ...

Well unfortunately I ended up losing one of the King Tiger plecos. The rest of the plecos and other fish are doing fine now. Think if I had woken up 20 minutes earlier it might have made it.

Fortunately my Zebra and Discus tanks all turned back on so overall it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Power Outage

The power went out last night and my King Tiger pleco tank's filter and powerhead didnt come back on so there was absolutely no flow. The other fish in the tank seem fine, the plecos were all near the top of the tank trying to get air. One of them looks like it is in really bad shape though. It is s...

Snails multiply fast when there is lots of food for them to eat. Overpopulation of snails is a good sign you are overfeeding. Cutting back on the amount you feed will reduce their numbers over time. The chances of you getting rid of all of them are about zero though. Personally I like having snails ...

Growth Rates

Hi All, Back in May 2007 I was able to get ahold of some zebs. They were very small, all under one inch, but all roughly the same size so I assume to be the same age. Its been 9 months and they have all shown growth but some more than others. I haven't actually measured any of them but just looking ...

From my limited Discus and pleco keeping experience, Discus leave plecos alone. That being said I still keep my zebras in their own tank Fish are animals and people can't predict with certainty how they will act. It is a question of whether you are willing to lose your zebras because of something re...

Just to throw this out there about the ban: I've tried looking for documentation on this ban and all I can ever find is people on forums talking about it but nothing official. There is a local guy near where I live who imports mostly cichlids but also some plecos. When I asked him if he knew anythin...

Pleasant suprise - L052 Butterfly spawn

I bought 2 L052 Butterfly plecos a few months ago for my community tank. I was not really trying to breed them and did not know their genders but aparently they are male and female and like each other. Woke up this morning to find a clutch of eggs behind (not inside) of one of the caves. Since they ...

I agree that it wouldnt be good to put them through that kind of stress but I can understand the want to know early. A majority of zebs on the market are sold very young. Unless you buy them in large quantities, there is a risk that you will end up with all males. I rarely ever see adult female zebs...

Chemistry Midterm

Chemistry Midterm. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues via the Internet which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well : Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of...

Getting close to being done. The white is the velcro used to hold the acrylic glass fronts . Definitely a home-made feel to it but I am really happy with how it turned out given this is my first time constructing anything this big. http://www.norad2.net/Aquarium/Almost%20Finished.jpg http://www.nora...
