Hey people...it's not like the end of the world, or the end of the Z's for me...I'm still keeping 7  ; it is just a question of priorities. My fiancee doesn't know I got them up for sale, so this is entirely my decision. Maybe that's why I'm doing it...she is the most un-demanding person I've e...

Thanks everybody for the good wishes, but I'm getting married August 6 & I don't think I'll have any fries to sell by then! My consolation thought is that I will still have other 7 growing Zebras left that are growing nicely. My fiancee didn't wanted me to sell them, but I need $$ to buy her a n...

I'm getting married!!..Miami, Fl, USA

. ...yes, yes...at 52, I will give this wedding business another shot & the groom pays for the wedding bills. So, sadly; I must part with a colony of 6 wild-caught Zebras. I'm 90% sure there is not one sibling in the group. The group has 3 adults (3-3.5 inches) and 3 sub-adults (1.75- 2.7...

Re: Kevin's Zebra formula

Kevin sends his food vacuum-sealed, fresh when you open the seal. My zebras young & adults, have been on nothing but this formula for 3 months now...all growing healthy & always hungry for more. He can probably sell you some, just email him directly:

Rob, I got some feedback from my brother regarding some of the effects of ecology on the food chain. Can you ask Andrew if he knows of any natural predators of the Zebras in the Xingu? Like would Gold Nugget Plecos attack Zebras, eat their eggs, etc. We baby our L046's so much, we wouldn't think of h...

Rob, tell Andrew that I'll volunteer! Maybe they can send some govt-approved colonies of Zebras for experimental relocation in my pond! :P Seriously, I'm going to ask my brother what is done for similar situations. My brother in Panama has been involved in constructions of dams, water locks, etc and...

Rob; that's great news from a group trying to work with IBAMA! On an ideal world, IBAMA should commision a group of local fishermen to catch & relocate X number of Zebras to other locations within Brazil that would not be threatened by any type of construction (destruction?) On a real world: thi...

Given the slow reproduction rate of the Zebra I can't see how they would manage to replenish the numbers in only 2-3 years. That's only one generation. Surely it would take at least 3-4 generations before they have reestablished any consiberable amount of fish, so we're talking 10 years rather than...

Re: Overfishing is the problem !

The fishermen are catching too many ! Zebra plecs do better in the wild . They will recover .. There may be a way to dam the river but still allow nature to do its thing Dont you think there are people thinking of how to do this ? Do I think there are people thinking of how to do this. NO. Will the...

Sojapat; I don't think anybody here is advocating the smuggling of Zebras. That's not the issue. The point that I raise is what steps is the govt of Brazil taking to assure its survival when they build the dam. You bet it will be built..it is called progress. I've seen it one time too many in develo...

So what are the reasons they won't survive if the dam is buildt? Given that it's buildt downstream where they live of course, and if not - that the dam isn't making the river completely dry I've read somewhere that similar projects were built in Brazil with disastrous consequences for some fish spe...

I can see Brazil's point of view of L046's needing natural recovery time. That is just logical due to overharvesting. What is not logical is the possibility of building a hydroelectric dam right on the Xingu, which could wipe out the entire Zebra population. If that is the case, then you better beli...

any chance of posting us some clams, cant find them over here. You can try a search under Asian Gold Clams at aquabid.com maybe one of the sellers will ship. They are used a lot as natural filters, plus they don't harm plants, fish or fry. Some people use them instead of any substrate at all, becau...

Shrimps, clams & Zebras

Yesterday I got myself 40 Amano shrimps and 20 Gold Clams, to be distributed amongst 3 tanks. From what I read, the clams dig themselves in the substrate with two syphons out, one will take water in (they will digest any suspended particle, algae, nitrates, etc) and the other syphon out--clear water...

Hi Rob; just out of curiousity....it it takes about 21 months for fry to reach 2", (under ideal conditions); then it takes about 2 years to have young adults and maybe 3 years to be sexually mature? I have some wild-caughts in the 2-2 3/4" range & was trying to determine their age. Is ...
