Zebras in hard water

Will Zebras do well in hard water? lets say pH 7.5 and dGH 15+ (about 1200 ms).
Does anyone keep them in this conditions (or similar) successfully for a long period of time? I'm not talking about breeding of course, but more of growing them adequately without special problems.

How long does it get? What does it feed on? What kind of substrate does it prefer?
