welcome to the site

if you dont know already they are very expensive, especially if you are looking for a pair, the easiest and cheapest option would be to buy a group of youngsters from a breeder and grow them out, however this would take a couple of years...

good luck and dont be shy to ask for any help or info along the way

I would just like to say hi to everyone, I have been keeping tropical fish now for over 30 years and have a fish house that I am going to be setting up a few tanks to try and breed some of these lovely fish, so I will be reading and asking plenty of questions.

I will be also looking for some pairs!! if anyone can help out in the uk please PM me

I remember when mine were that small, you gona have some waiting to do before they get to a sexable size tho... but you'll have fun and enjoy watching them do this! they will soon become more bold and comfortable the longer time goes on...

any pics of their setup?

Well these little guys are getting quite brave now, they hang around the mouths of their caves when I'm in the fish house working away so remembered my camera today and took a couple of shots

Nice looking guppy/endler crosses but agree about the hybridisation, I prefer to keep my endlers pure but if you like them in your tank then enjoy

Had many guppies in my time keeping freshwater, can't tell the difference between unique strains, especially working in a fish store i see them everyday.

In the US, nitrate levels are one of the things they monitor for in drinking water. RO doesn't necessarily remove nitrate anyway, only the DI portion is doing the majority of that.

With that said, I've seen more people kill fish in general, and zebras in particular, crashing the pH using RO water, and it's honestly just not necessary, or even really beneficial for these guys. If your water is VERY hard (like over 1500 tds) then you could mix it half and half with RO and still be able to stimulate them to spawn. I just think people make way too much of a priority providing conditions the fish themselves don't require to thrive.

I only started using RO water after my Zebs had bred in tap water, but lost my first batch of fry due to high nitrate levels.

So yes Zebs will breed in many water conditions, but is your water good enough to help your fry survive, without using an alternative such as RO water?
